CEO & general management

Are you a high performing team leader, with strong cultural capability and experience in building teams and delivery strategy? If so, then Te Runanga o Waihao is looking for you.

The name Waihao refers to our river, named by Rokohouia the son of Rakaihautu who were both ariki (leaders and guardians) of the waka (sailing canoe) Uruao, one of the earlier waka arrivals to Aotearoa. The river, which has its source in the inland foothills - Te Tari a Te Kaumira - is home to the hao or short?n eel, hence the name Waihao. The hao eel was, and still is, one of the delicacies still gathered as mahinga kai by whanau from the Waihao River and its Wainono lagoon - the kete kai of local Maori.

The takiwa of Te Runanga o Waihao centres on Wainono, sharing interests with Te Runanga o Arowhenua to Waitaki, and extends inland to Omarama and the Main Divide. It is through the marae that a sense of continuity with the past is achieved.

Tino mihi aroha ki a koutou nga whanau o Waihao me Waitaki i te mahi rangatira mao tatou marae.

We are looking for an Executive Of?cer to build and lead our operational team, support our governance board, and to operationalise and deliver on our Strategic Plan into the future.

Your team leadership, project delivery experience, ?nancial management expertise, and experience supporting governance entities will be critical to your success in this role. Alongside your established relationships with government agencies and stakeholder organisations, your ability to grow and nurture strategic relationships will be fundamental. Your excellent written and verbal communication skills will compliment your commitment to servant leadership in a marae and runanga context.
